Are you looking to incentivize customers so they'll purchase more products? Try creating bundles. A bundle consists of one (1) bundle parent product and any number of product options. Customers can choose a selection of products to buy together and receive a discounted price for their order.

This guide will help you understand what bundles are and how to create a new bundle in Stay.

NOTE: You'll need to create your Parent product in Shopify before you can see it in the Select Bundle Parent modal. To learn more about creating custom bundle pages, read our Setting Up a Custom Bundle Page article.

Getting Started with Bundles

A bundle consists of a single bundle parent product and any number of child product options. The bundle parent product contains information on what options are available within the bundle and how many products need to be selected for the bundle to be valid. The bundle parent product is selected in the Stay Ai app and is the core element of the bundle selling plan.

A new bundle parent product will need to be created for each bundle. A new bundle is required for different product options, size restrictions, or pricing. When customers check out with a Stay Ai bundle, they will technically be subscribed to the $0 parent product in addition to the products that make up the bundle. You can use the presence of this parent product in fulfillment to identify bundle-based orders.

To get started creating bundles in Stay, navigate to your Stay Ai merchant portal and click Settings.

Finding Bundles in Stay

  1. Click Bundles.

  2. Click New Bundle Selling Plan to create a new bundle in Stay.

    1. If you already have a bundle set up in Stay, it will be listed on the Bundle Selling Plans screen.

Creating a New Bundle

  1. In the Select Parent Bundle modal, select the parent product from the list. Then, click Ok.

  2. Select the Bundle Line Type that best fits your preferences.

    1. This controls how lines will be handled by Stay. You can use standard products that fulfill individual lines or attach attributes to the parent product using a custom map.

  3. Click Add New Products or Add New Variants to add products to your bundle.

  4. Enter a Minimum Quantity and Maximum Quantity for your bundle to enforce the number of items a customer must add to create a valid bundle.

    1. The bundle selling plan group is configured like a regular selling plan group for products within the Stay Ai app. There are just a couple of additional fields:

      1. Bundle Parent Product

      2. Bundle Quantities

        1. Minimum Quantity

        2. Maximum Quantity

  5. Enter the Selection Label and Checkout/Cart Label that apply in their respective fields.

  6. Select the discount type from the dropdown menu and enter the discount in the field to the right.

    1. These values will be used to discount your bundle items.

  7. Enter the frequency for when customers will be billed for this bundle in the Billing Schedule.

  8. In the Bundle Labels section, enter all the labels that apply to this new bundle. These labels will be displayed for customers on the bundle product page.

  9. Click Submit at the top of the page to save the newly created Bundle.

For Example

For Priced Children Product Bundles:

Assuming your standard Product X, Product Y, and Product Z prices are $20 each; if you’d like a bundle of 3 to cost $60, you’d create your parent product with a price of $0, the discount type to Percentage and the value to 25%. In this case, when a customer orders a bundle of these products, you’ll see an order in Shopify with each individual product charged at $15 vs. the standard price of $20.

For $0 Children Product Bundles:

Assuming your parent product is priced at $100, and you have a desired bundle price of $75; you can create $0 children products and set the discount type to Percentage and the value to 25%. In this case, when a customer orders a bundle of these products, you'll see an order in Shopify with each individual product charged at $0 and the parent product charged at $75 vs. the standard price of $100.

Note: If you’ve created separate bundle-only products and already discounted the price in Shopify, do not add an additional discount here.

Managing Bundles

Over time, you may need to update the bundles you've set up in Shopify/Stay Ai. For example, if you begin selling a new product that you'd like customers to be able to add to bundles, you'll need to make this product available via the Bundle Selling Plan(s) in your Stay Ai app.

To get started managing bundles in Stay, navigate to your Stay Ai merchant portal and click Settings.

  1. Click Bundles.

  2. Select the bundle you wish to edit from the Bundle Selling Plans screen.

  3. The Bundle Overview on the right side of the screen will summarize the current Product Options, Quantity, Frequency, Discount, and labels as they are.

  4. Click Add New Products or Add New Variants to add a product or variant to the list of options customers can choose from for their bundle.

    1. NOTE: If you add another product that already exists in a different selling plan, you'll need to exclude that other bundle's selling plan.

      You can exclude the bundle selling plan group using the name or other identifier.{% assign sellingPlanGroups = product.selling_plan_groups | where: 'name', 'SPG NAME' %}
      or
      {% assign sellingPlanGroups = product.selling_plan_groups | where: 'id', 'SPG ID' %}

      1. Click the delete icon to remove a product option.

        1. NOTE: If you delete a product from a bundle, it will only delete the product option for newly created bundles. Any bundle with that product on their subscription will remain unless manually removed or swapped to another product.

  5. Edit how many products make the bundle valid in the Bundle Quantities section.

  6. Click Add New Frequency to add a new subscription frequency, if applicable.

  7. If applicable, you can edit the fields within the Bundle Labels section.

  8. Click Submit to save changes.
