Shop Pay makes it incredibly easy for your customers to checkout. However, there are multiple steps when your customers need to update their cards in ShopPay. Here are instructions you can share to help your customers.
Please note, only Active and Paused Subscriptions can be updated in Shop Pay
Shop Pay Payment Method Update Steps
1. Log into the Stay AI customer portal.
2. Click the “Profile” button.
3. Select the Payment Method you would like to update and click “Update Payment Method” to trigger the payment update email from Shopify.
4. Open the email sent from Shopify and click the Confirm your payment method button.
5. You’ll be directed to the Edit Payment Method screen in Shopify. Click “Use a different card” to add a new card. If you are just updating your billing address, you can click the three dots and the edit icon.
6. Add the new card information and click “Save Card.”
7. Click the “Update” button to add your new card.
8. Your payment method has been updated!
Updating a Shop Pay Subscription with a Removed Payment Method
Customers can remove payment methods from subscriptions in Shop Pay without canceling the subscription. This will prevent the subscription from being charged causing payment method errors in your store. Learn more about billing failures here.
1. Log into the Stay AI customer portal.
2. Click the “Profile” button.
3. Select the Payment Method you would like to update and click “Update Payment Method” to trigger the payment update email from Shopify.
4. Open the email sent from Shopify and click the Confirm your payment method button.
5. You’ll be directed to the Edit Payment Method screen in Shopify. Enter the new card information. Click the "Save" button.
6. Click the "Update" button.
7. Success! You've added a card to your subscription.
If you would like to update the card on all of your subscriptions to this card stored on Shop Pay, use the "Set to all subscriptions" button in the Stay AI customer portal.
