We are ecstatic to be part of Shopify's latest rollout: Account Extensions! With Stay's extensions, you can embed subscription components directly within the Shopify accounts page.
At Stay, we aim to offer tools that simplify merchants’ and customers’ lives. This alignment in valuing simplicity shines through Stay’s account extensions, which enable merchants to consolidate subscription management easily and simplify customers’ lives by allowing them to update, manage, and view their subscriptions more streamlined.
Account extensions allow your customers to have a smooth subscription management experience. They eliminate the necessity of navigating between platforms and logging in to multiple places, simplifying your customers' experience.
And, even better, you can set it up in minutes.
Since extensions consume branding from the Shopify theme, there’s no need to worry about tedious CSS updates or headaches when ensuring your branding is aligned. Any platform that enables extensions will allow you to create views within the account pages that aggregate multiple extensions into one place.
Getting Started
Ensure you have Stay AI installed on your store! This will enable any applicable extensions as you customize your accounts page.
Navigate into your Shopify store, and go to Customize a draft or live theme. Once in the Theme Editor, navigate to the drop down and select "Checkout and customer accounts".
3. Once in the Checkout and customer accounts pages, navigate to the Orders page editor.
Stay Navigation vs. Extended Functionality
You will see two Stay AI extension groups available; Manage Subscriptions - Extended Functionality or Manage Subscriptions - Stay Navigation.
When to use Manage Subscriptions - Stay Navigation:
Choose this option if you want to ensure customers are directed to Stay to utilize:
Digital Punch Cards
ExperienceEngine (Promotions)
RetentionEngine (Cancellation Flow)
Customizations or Integrations
Updating Payment Methods
Swapping Products
Other customer functions not listed above
When to use Manage Subscriptions - Extended Functionality:
Choose this option if you want customers to perform subscription updates entirely from Shopify.
Customers will be able to take ONLY the following actions:
Set Next Order Date
Get Order Now
Skip Next Order
Update Product Quantity
Add Products
Add Discount Codes
Cancel Subscription
When not to use Manage Subscriptions - Extended Functionality:
Using this extension group will decrease traffic to the Stay Native Portal, so we do not recommend this group if you want customers to have access to:
Digital Punch Cards
ExperienceEngine (Promotions)
RetentionEngine (Cancellation Flow)
Customizations or Integrations
Updating Payment Methods
Swapping Products
Please Note: Since Extended Functionality does not redirect customers to Stay at this time, payment method updates will need to be initiated by your Support Team on request. To do this, navigate to the subscriber's Customer Record in Shopify, click the pencil icon next to Payment method, and click "Send link to update card". This will initiate the payment update email to the customer.
4. Add the desired app blocks on the various sections of the orders page.
To have access to all available extensions, click the left navigation and go to Apps:
OR click "Add app block" and click "View All Apps". From here, you can add the pertinent app blocks.
